What can I win?

What does it take to win the contest?
Entries will be judged on the basis of artistic merit, photographic quality, and effectiveness in expressing the contest theme, Picture This: Santa Fe at 400 Years Old! Try to look at your subject in a way that no one else has seen it. Try to capture the essence of the place. What is happening in the photograph that makes it interesting? What are my chances of winning? That depends upon how many people enter the contest.

What type of film should I use?
Use a digital camera or whatever brand of color or black-and-white film you prefer. Entries must be 5x7 or 8x10 prints.

How should I send my entry?
Send a photo-quality print with an Entry Form taped to the back. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL NEGATIVES OR SLIDES. Pack your entry in a sturdy cardboard mailer for protection. When should I enter? All entries go through the same review process, regardless of when we receive them. They must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 21, 2008, or hand-delivered by 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2008, for this years contest. What should I do if I want my photos returned? We cant return packages or prints due to the limited number of helpers devoted to this project.

Can I enter if I live outside the United States?
Yes! We encourage anyone, anywhere in the world, to participate in the contest by sending photos taken since January 2001 or by taking new ones and entering them in our contest. Please allow extra time for your entry to arrive since international mail can be slow. When are the winners announced? The 2008 winners will be announced in the spring 2009 issue of El Palacio magazine.

Did I win?
All winners will be contacted by January 15, 2009. If you arent contacted, see the spring 2009 issue to see the winning photographs, or visit elpalacio.org or museumofnewmexico.org. Check out this years Rules.
